Explanation of the Transparency Act

Sterling White Halibut AS is a subsidiary of Sterling Holding the group, which includes the sister company Sterling Processing AS. As of now only Sterling White Halibut is covered by the Transparency Act, but the group as a whole carries out due diligence assessments. The responsibility to safeguard human and employee rights are described in our ethical guidelines.

Our business consists of breeding and selling halibut, which is sold to customers in Norway, Sweden, UK, USA, Canada and Europe. SWH has head office in Norway and one sales office in Sweden. Our supply chain considered to be transparent and uncomplicated. Our main suppliers comes mainly from Norway and Denmark. There is a risk related to the purchase of goods and services, our work related to assessment of risk is a continuous process. Sterling requires that all suppliers submit a checklist before they qualify to become a supplier. It is performed internal risk assessments linked to the geographical location of the supplier, industry and other factors before the supplier is approved by us.

 

B – Negative consequences and risks

We consider the exploitation of migrant workers to be the biggest risk in our value chain, this based on the industry in which we operate. Through our work we have not uncovered any actual events that give negative consequences or significant risk of negative consequences consequences. This is a continuous process for mapping risks.

 

C – Measures:

Sterling has tried to limit the risk of by preventing through dialogue and collaboration with the suppliers to focus on human and employee rights. Then the two most important measures are in advance qualify suppliers, get to know our suppliers and create long-term connections. If we uncover actual negative consequences, we will in Sterling try to limit the damage by opening dialogue and focus on the relationship. The most serious measure we can introduce is to terminate the relationship the business partner, this is appropriate to do if the counterparty does not want to change so that the negative consequence stops.
